Welcome to the Void
In spite of the context and circumstances, I am not a creature that wants eternal nothingness. On rare occasion, I will hold one of the specks in my grasp and gently speak to it.
You must understand what they always say. They speak of deep torment and pain. Their lives were harsh. An alarming percentage of them had terminated their lives of their own volition.
My response is always the same, "Then why did you choose this?"
And it is then I would be met with denial or confusion.
But that is the great secret: You chose the life you live.
You chose to live in an imperfect world with suffering and agony.
You chose it with full knowledge of such consequences.
To me, the greater secret is why these souls choose such masochistic experiences.
This place is not simply a graveyard.
Some of the specks I hold do not speak of pain and despair.
Sometimes, they speak of hope of a life yet lived.
And when I ask them why they hold such hope- such optimism for what's to come,
They tell me they cannot remember.
They cannot remember anything but the decision, itself.
What irony.
What irony.
Though, I have my own little hope as well.
Every entity I speak to, I provide the same request to them.
And if you are willing, I will ask of you the same request.
